Biography

I am the Research and Innovation Development Manager for the CITIES theme. The CITIES theme is a cross-university theme which brings together nearly 150 academics who are working in or have an interest in urban focused research. This research spans many disciplines including engineering, enviornment, economics, law, health, geography, social sciences and business. Furthermore the research may be focused locally, in the Leeds City Region, nationally or internationally. My role is to work with the academic co-directors for the theme and the wider academic commmunity to help develop research ideas and identify funding routes for this research. In order to facilitate this I also have a developed external network of funders, potential partners and key city-related stakeholders.

I have now worked at the University for four years undertaking a number of roles including the Research and Development Manager for the Faculty of Environment's Sustainable Cities Initiative and prior to this I worked on the Climate Smart Cities programme, working particularly in Lima (Peru) and Kolkata (India) on projects funded by the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office and the Inter-American Development Bank and that I presented at COP20. See http://media.climatesmartcities.org.ccc.cdn.faelix.net/case-studies.

Prior to joining the School of Earth & Environment I worked as an Associate Consultant at Atkins focussing on climate change issues, both within the UK and internationally. From 2001 to 2008 I worked for E.ON in a number of environmental and corporate responsibility related roles, culminating in the role of UK Environment Manager.
