The critical side cut through the Yammouneh Fault in Wadi Chadra.
The main valley lies between the foreground section and the hillside in the
distance. The bright white material is weakly cemented rock flour and granulated
breccia derived from the Cretaceous limestones. A simple shatter gradient passes
into this zone from the far hillside. This is deformation associated with the
Yammouneh Fault.
The rocks above the figure are pillow lavas at the base of the Homs basalt series.
These are unshattered by the faulting and are interpreted as having erupted
against the old fault scarp.
