Structures seen in the northernmost, once most-deeply buried part of the Indian continent

PhuparashThe top view shows the contact between rocks of the Indian continent (reddish coloured, low on the mountainside) over-ridden by rocks of the Asian mass (actually part of the Kohistan island arc - slightly greenish - running up to the peaks). Joins like this are called SUTURES.
Sheared rocks on suture

Here the suture is accompanied by lots so shearing. Rocks on either side are streaked out. Granite sheets in the Kohistan mass are folded and pulled apart, as seen in the cliff side. Rocks of the Indian continent are also streaked.

Large garnetiferous podThey also show evidence for metamorphism such as this large garnetiferous pod.
