Highly sheared former Lewisian gneiss. These rocks started out as well banded (click here to see) but sheared is accompanied by metamorphism, created a foliated, micaceous rock where the grains are smeared out and strongly aligned. (outcrop from Alltnacaillich, Ben Hope).
