Looking north along the shutter ridge that deflects the course of the
Litani river. The river valley is in the gorge in the foreground and then
turns north towards the Jabel Barouk area in the distance. Ahead is the
Beaufort ridge with the castle visible on top. Cretaceous limerstones pick
out an anticline - folding is apparent on the western sides of the fault
segments on the Roum system, indicating weak transpression across these
segments. The Miocene paleao-surface has the scattered houses on it, and
is folded up to the castle.
