Deformation in the Lewisian Gneisses

Canisp shear zone
Example of Lewisian Gneiss deformation. An early metamorphic foliation was intruded by basaltic (now amphibolite) Scourie dykes, which were subsequently boudinaged during folding prior to localised shearing associated with the major Canisp Shear Zone. Achmellvich, Lochinver, Assynt.
