Emotional Attributions of Climate Change

Funder: European Commission, Marie Curie Career Integration Grant

Amount: €100,000 over 4 years

Abstract:

In this research I aim to investigate the emotional reactions of individuals to the issue of climate change. Particularly, I investigate the effect of these emotional reactions on subsequent decision-making and behaviour. I argue that emotions play a critical role in determining behaviour both within and outside the workplace. The objectives of the research will address limitations of past research and make a significant contribution to understanding individual behaviour in response to environmental issues, and more specifically in response to climate change. In doing so this research is both timely and important. This research will make a significant advance in the state of the art in the three fields of: organisations and the natural environment; organisational behaviour; and environmental psychology.
