Abstract
This project consists of a pilot study to build a holistic means of measuring the effects of schools on climate change. Schools have a special position in the community: they are one of the main ways of engaging children in climate change issues, they represent an important social hub for parents and other community members, and they can act as a demonstration project for new technologies or more efficient ways of using the current energy infrastructure. In this project we aim to develop a method to measure the effects of schools on their buildings, the climate change practices of their occupants and the wider community. In doing so we also explore the feasibility of such an interdisciplinary, and holistic, measure of climate impact.
