Principal Investigators: Prof. Andy Gouldson and Dr Louise Ellis
Abstract
This research project will evaluate the impacts of Carbon Action Yorkshire's carbon trading scheme - Carbon Trading Yorkshire (CTY) and inform future activities. The CTY scheme was adopted in 2009 and runs to 2010, with the aim of preparing leading businesses in the region to respond to the provisions of the 2008 Climate Change Act (CCA), and particularly for the introduction of carbon reduction commitment and the opening of carbon trading. The research will examine the motivations for and barriers to participation in the CTY scheme, it will identify the impact of the scheme of the preparedness of companies for CRCs and carbon trading, and it will assess on-going business needs to inform the design of initiatives to build on the impacts of CTY in the future.
