Institute for Climate and Atmospheric Science (ICAS)

Physical Climate Change Group Outreach

We are committed to discussing the science behind climate change and some of its controversies to as wide an audience as possible. Members of the group regularly talk to school and adult groups in the Yorkshire. These include Cafe Scientifique and the Otley Science festival. In September 2011 we will be taking our fabulous climate change machine to the British Science Festival in Bradford. Hear Cat Scott explaining the role of trees in cooling the climate on the NERC planet Earth podcast.

We educate Yorkshire and UK businesses on the role of the rainforest in climate change through our work with the United Bank of Carbon charity. The entrance foyer of  the School of Earth and Environment  features our water driven climate change machine built by Tony Windross and Rhys Moore in the workshop. School visits can be arranged and are great fun.

Our work is often in the news, see here for details.
