Atmospheric Particle Formation

Principal Investigator: Prof Ken Carslaw

Sponsor: Royal Society

Start Date: 1 February 2006
End Date: 31 January 2008

Value to Leeds: £10,470

This Royal Society International Joint Project grant supports a collaboration between Prof Carslaw's group at Leeds and the aerosol group of Prof Markku Kulmala at the University of Helsinki. The aim is to understand how nucleation (new particle formation) in the atmosphere impacts the global aerosol budget and climate. We are using the GLOMAP modeland observations from the SMEAR II Observatory at Hyytiala, Finland.
