Research Interests
Zhiqiang Cui is interested in the transport of aerosol through deep convective clouds and is funded by two European projects (PARTS and TROCCINOX). Deep convective clouds are the primary mechanism by which aerosols close to the Earth's surface are transported to the upper troposphere, where they can influence the formation of cirrus clouds. This is a very challenging problem because of the complex interactions that occur between aerosol particles and cloud particles (drops, ice crystals, hail, snow and rain). He is using and further developing the Microphysics, Aerosol and Chemistry Convective Cloud Model (MAC3) developed in Leeds.
