Biography

Qualifications:

MPhys, Physics with Space Science and Technology (Leicester); PhD Earth Observation Science (Leicester)

Research Interests:

Atmospheric chemistry. Satellite and aircraft observations of tropospheric composition. Global modelling of tropospheric chemistry.

I utilise satellite observations in conjunction with chemistry transport modeling and aircraft observations to investigate tropospheric composition. My current research involves use of the TOMCAT global chemical-transport model to help interpret the first global distributions of peroxyacetylnitrate (PAN) in the upper troposphere. These observations are retrieved from the MIPAS satellite instrument, providing routine upper tropospheric concentration profiles in remote regions, where only sparse aircraft observations have been possible to date.

I am a member of and work closely with the TES (tropospheric emission spectrometer) science team. Through this collaboration I am involved in the validation and use of TES tropospheric profile measurements of CO and ozone.

More recently I have taken a position as a postdoctoral research fellow with the National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO), in which I will continue my work of combining satellite observations and chemistry transport modeling to investigate the factors controlling the composition of the troposphere.
