Project outline
In the arid areas like Sultanate of Oman, land degradation is a serious environmental problem that can pose great danger to the livelihoods of the people. Oman has suffered from severe land degradation in the last two to three decades and that's due to overgrazing, wood cutting and land use mismanagement as a result, there has been a reduction in vegetation cover. The most widely accepted strategy is conserving and management of land through legal means (protected areas). This study is to investigate the level at which such strategy prevents land degradation and improving sustainable community livelihoods.
