Biography
Dr Klaus Hubacek joined the School of the Environment in September 2002. Before that Klaus has been working at a variety of Universities in Central and Eastern Europe and the US. Since 1999, he has also been affiliated with the Land Use Change project at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Austria. Klaus has conducted studies for a number of national agencies in Austria, China, Japan, and the UK, and international institutions such as the European Statistical Office (EUROSTAT), the OECD, and UNESCO. He has published on a variety of topics such as renewable energy, material flow analysis, input-output modelling, appropriate technology, biodiversity, and land use change and more recently on participatory approaches, governance and mediated modelling. Recently, he has been awarded a large grant from the UK research councils to lead a large interdisciplinary project group working with stakeholders on developing visions for a sustainable future and sustainable land management practices.
