Kate uses satellite based observations to study the cryosphere. Her research uses the techniques of Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) and altimetry to study ice sheet change. Kate is involved in the Ice Sheet Mass Balance Inter-comparison Exercise (IMBIE) project. Her current research is using radar and laser altimetry to measure mass change of Glaciers and Ice Caps, and the Antarctic Peninsula Ice Sheet. Kate gained First Class Honours in Geography from the University of Leeds, before completing an MSc in Quaternary Science with distinction at Royal Holloway, University of London and a PhD entitled ‘Satellite Investigations of Ice Dynamics and Supraglacial Lake Development in Greenland’ at the University of Edinburgh.
