Biography

Celine Planche is a Research Fellow in the Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science. Her current work involves the interactions between the atmospheric aerosol particles, the cloud microphysics and the weather-system dynamics over UK (ASCI project). To investigate the aerosol influences on the microphysics and dynamics fields, she uses the Met Office Unified Model with a new multi-moment bulk microphysics scheme coupled with a simplified version of the GLOMAP-mode aerosol representation. She also evaluates the simulation results of the UM model over various observations from the Convective Storm Initiation Project (CSIP) field campaign, which took place in southern England in 2005.

Celine's PhD work looked at the aerosol-cloud-precipitation interactions in convective systems observed during the COPS campaign (which took place at the French-German boarder in 2007) using a 3D cloud scale model coupled with a detailed (bin) microphysics scheme (DESCAM-3D).
