Project outline
This project aims to investigate the relationship between agrobiodiversity, food security, dietary diversity and nutrition in Eastern Sub-Saharan Africa. Nationally representative data from Demographic and Health Surveys from countries in Eastern Africa will be linked with environmental data in the areas this data was collected, to make broad conclusions about the importance of environmental factors and land cover on individuals' nutrition outcomes. Then the relationships between agrobiodiversity, food security, dietary diversity and nutrition will be explored using specifically designed data collection methods; ecological methods and a questionnaire based household interview in villages Malawi and/or Tanzania. These results will be integrated and analysed using spatial analysis.
