Leeds Brewery

Leeds Brewery was established in 2007 and is the city's only independent brewery. The Leeds Brewery is an SME specialising in the production of high quality traditional British beer using the latest brewing techniques. The company has 50 employees and is one of the UK's newest and most vibrant independent breweries. The company produces approximately 3500 barrels of beer a year, which is supplied to public houses across the UK. The young and enthusiastic team brings experience from across the industry to brew the finest ales and scale formation during the brewing process is a significant issue. AP-LBR is more than happy to collaborate with this august network to learn more about how tochange their brewing process in order to reduce or avoid scale formation. This would reduce costs and possibly also increase quality of their products.

Role:

The AP-LBR team will advise the consortium on mineral scale problems in the beer brewing process; the brewery will also provide scale samples (e.g. oxalate and carbonate scales) to the researchers in the network for analysis and experimentation.

Key Competences and Facilities:

AP-LBR will not host a fellow but will provide access to specialized samples from the beer brewing process; the brewery's production is occurring in modern and relatively new brewing facilities.

Key Persons:

Michael Brothwell, Team Leader

Company Director.

Venkatesh Iyer

Previous Training Programs and Research:

AP-LBR has so far not been involved in any EU training networks.
