Dominic Tobler
Dominic Tobler is presently Assistant Professor in the Nano-Science Center at the University of Copenhagen. She was previously a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Geographical and earth scinces, University of Glasgow (2009-2012) and a visiting postdoctoral researcher at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Maryland, USA (short-term position for 6 months).
Nick Berry
Nick Berry's PhD highlighted how tropical forests degraded by commercial logging can still play a vital role in conserving biodiversity and removing carbon from the atmosphere. After working for several years as a Senior Ecosystem Analyst, Nick now has a postdoctoral fellowship at Edinburgh University (see http://uk.linkedin.com/in/nicholasberry).
Simon Harold
Simon Harold's PhD investigated spatial population structure in an insect pest undergoing range expansion due to climate change. In order to understand the relative roles of biotic and abiotic factors that lead to outbreaks, he revealed in particular how different natural enemies can impact on pest abundance at contrasting spatial scales. Whilst writing manuscripts from his PhD, Simon Harold is working full time in biological and clinical science publishing at the BMC series of open access peer reviewed journals.
Alice Milner
Alice Milner is now a postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Geography at University College, London in the 'Past4Future' FP7 project to investigate climate and environment of interglacials.
Paul Woodstock
Paul Woodcock's PhD, using ants as a model, highlighted that even tropical forests severely degraded by repeated rounds of logging can nonetheless support surprisingly high levels of biodiversity. Paul's still publishing from his PhD and he's now on a postdoctoctoral fellowship at Bangor University, working on evidence-based conservation.
Fransiska Schrodt
Fransiska Schrodt has a postdoctoral fellowship Transformative steps in plant systems analysis. It is split between the University of Minnesota (USA) the Max-Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry and the iDiv at the University of Leipzig (Germany).
Mark Goddard
Mark Goddard's PhD focussed on the effects of socioeconomic variables and landscape-scale management on urban biodiversity. He is presently a postdoctoral fellow working with professor Bill Kunin (Faculty of Biology, Leeds University) on the 'Urban Pollinators' project funded by UK Insect Pollinator Initiative. He also played a key role in developing the University of Leeds exhibit at the 2012 Chelsea Flower Show.
Sophie Fauset
Sophie Fauset is at present a postdoctoral fellow in the School of Geography, Leeds University.
Matt Box
Matt Box worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Open University studying organic and inorganic palaeoclimatic signals from two speleothems collected from a cave in Indonesia. After 2 years at the OU I decided to change career path and applied to work at the Met. Office as a Weather Forecaster. He is now working at an RAF base in Hampshire, Weather Forecaster to the UK's fleet of Chinooks.
