Emauel Gloor - Research Interests

My main interest is the global carbon cycle and biogeochemical cycles related to the carbon cycle like the oxygen, carbon monoxide and methane cycles. My focus is to observe and diagnose the current state and changes of carbon pools using 3D fluid dynamic models of atmosphere and oceans to interpret concentration data. This is important because feedbacks of land vegetation and ocean circulation and biota as a consequence of global warming are not fully understood and may well hold surprises.

Currently I am working on a range of topics related to my main interest. They include the development of an individual based forest simulator for the Amazon using the RAINFOR Amazonian forest data base at Leeds University, interpretation of proxy data characterizing the ocean state in the past (ice ages) using a simple ocean model and development of strongly a data based fire model for the boreal forests for helping predict its response to climate change.
