Got your reading list for this semester? Have a look here to see if you can get any textbooks cheaper secondhand. Keep your eye out for our Photo Caption competition... coming soon! Who are we? RocSoc is the departmental society for Earth Sciences within the University of Leeds. It is a student run society, and the ten friendly committee members organise various social, sports and educational events throughout the academic year. Social events range from our weekly pub socials, to Otley runs (themed pub crawl) and experiencing the vibrant night life in Leeds, through to ice skating, go karting and trips to theme parks! Sporting events include Intra-mural Football, Hockey and Rugby, or if you fancy something a bit less serious you can try out ultimate frisbee. Throughout the year, we arrange for various academics or people in industry to come into the university to give talks on areas of interest. This is the perfect oppurtunity to find out a bit more about topics that may not be on your syllabus or to open up a new interest! There are a few field trips arranged throughout the year including the infamous Whitby trip in October. To find out more, click here. Membership A simple one-off payment of £20 is all that is required to gain lifetime membership with RocSoc. This membership allows you access and discounts to all our talks, socials, field trips and sports events. Those of you who are new to the department may have received a welcome pack with information on how to join. If you wish to join at a later date, just approach any committee member who will be happy to help. |
