Palaeontology

Introduction

The Palaeontology Lab/Suite is located in the Earth and Environment Building, University of Leeds. It can be used to provide specialist services to University staff as well as external academic and corporate customers.

Services Offered

We provide access to the following range of services:

• Palynology: pollen analysis and forensic palynology; biostratigraphic determination (particularly Mesozoic); palaeoenvironmental interpretations
• Cenozoic planktonic foraminifera biostratigraphic analysis

Equipment

• Wet chemistry laboratory with fume hood and facilities for sediment sieving
• binocular and petrographic microscopes
• flat bench working areas
• optical photography of palaeontological specimens ranging from centimetre to micron scales
