Extractions Laboratory
This is used for the preparation of extracts from natural sediments, soils and waters either to determine concentration or as preparation for isotopic analyses. Typical methods would be various Fe determinations or the extraction of pyrite sulphur for isotopic analysis. The laboratory is set up with a variety of workstations. Facilities include standard fume cupboards for acid and organic extraction, and specialised fume cupboards for perchloric acid use.
