Overview

This programme is a four-year Integrated Undergraduate Masters degree that offers students the enviable opportunity to spend their third year in the USA, Canada or Australia. Your Year Abroad is fully integrated into your course, so it counts towards your final degree classification, and you take only Masters-level modules during your fourth and final year. Leeds was the first university in the UK to introduce the fully integrated international study year abroad and we have many years experience of working with internationally renowned institutions in North America and Australasia.

Environmental Science at Leeds is a thorough study of the Earth's physical and chemical processes and leads to a comprehensive overview of the interaction between the many different aspects of our environment. Expertise from across our School offers applied interdisciplinary insights into the study of real-world environmental problems. You can expect frequent contact with practising experts among the School’s staff, as well as visiting speakers, who represent the great variety of environmental fields of study.

You will deal with the wide range of issues confronting environmental managers or aid workers. The skills you learn will underpin your environmental studies and are essential for your understanding of relevant scientific issues. They will also help you to apply sophisticated scientific techniques for solving environmental problems. At the end of the course you will have a thorough command of the subject, as well as valuable transferable and environmental skills, and you will be well-placed to enter employment or postgraduate education.
