Study Abroad
The programme at Leeds includes an option to study abroad for a year* after you complete Year 2. When you return to Leeds you will undertake your third and final year of study.
You need not apply for this option before starting your studies at Leeds; you will have an opportunity to register your interest after you begin your degree with us. The School and the University’s Study Abroad Office will provide advice and guidance to help you set up a study place at one of the University’s partner institutions in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland or further afield.
You will be expected to maintain a 2:1 average during Years 1 and 2 in order to be eligible for a Study Year Abroad. When you return to Leeds you will study the Level 3 courses appropriate to the final year of your degree.
Environmental Science students can spend a year abroad in North America or Australia as part of our MEnv, BSc Environmental Science (International) programme. Entry requirements are higher (AAA at GCE A-level, or equivalent), but BSc students whose performance is consistently excellent in Years 1 and 2 may transfer to this scheme, dependent on the availability of places with our overseas partners.
* If you would like to study abroad you may have to demonstrate an acceptable proficiency in an appropriate foreign language before you are accepted, depending on your chosen destination. You will have opportunities to pursue language studies during Years 1 and 2, and at the start of the year abroad.
