Further Study and the MSc Track
The School of Earth and Environment offers one of the largest portfolios of 1–Year vocational Masters programmes. In recent years our graduates have undertaken Masters qualifications in: Exploration Geophysics, Engineering/Structural Geology, Hydrogeology, Geochemistry, Environmental Geochemistry, Environmental Sustainability and Environmental Management. These schemes, aimed at those wishing to enter earth and environment – related careers, offer advanced subject-specific training and contact with employers via a range of activities including external speakers, industry open days, and in some cases dissertation projects linked with employers based on real-world projects.
Each year around a quarter of our graduates decide to go on to postgraduate education or training. In addition to the Masters courses listed above, our graduates have also pursued other further studies e.g. law conversion, Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), MA/MSc programmes and PhD research degrees leading to subject-specific careers in industry, public sector, and academia.
