Rocsoc is the student ran departmental society for the Earth Sciences in the School of Earth and Environment.

We are the largest student run society in the School but don't let the fact we are called Rocsoc discourage you, we have members from all studies including both geological and environmental within the society. This year our committee is of dedicated 2nd and 3rd year student's whos main purpose in life will be to helping you to ensure that you make the most of your time at university.

Rocsoc hosts loads of events including the legendary fresher's residential trip to Cumbria, trips to Europe, Christmas Party, Summer Ball, Otley runs, museum visits, comedy nights, fortnightly talks from outside speakers and much more!

Being a member not only gets you access to all our events but you also enjoy preferential discounts of 15% at selected outdoors shops in Leeds, as well as membership to the Leeds Geological Association and their presentations.

Our weekly socials across Leeds are a great way to meet fellow students from all years and courses as well as post grad students and staff, giving you the opportunity to discuss course related matters or more importantly just have a laugh! Lifetime membership to Rocsoc is £20 but for freshers there is a discount when purchasing a place  on the Cumbria trip alongside membership for the excellent price of £50.

Current members can purchase a place on the Cumbria for £36. Freshers have priority on the trip but tickets will be opened up to everyone after fresher's week. This trip is likely to fill up quickly so book early to avoid disappointment.

Membership can be bought online through the union website by searching RocSoc and by following the instructions.

Alternatively you can buy membership through a committee member or at our stall in the fresher's fair!
